NetSuite Partners: The Unique Leverage Difference

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Tom Altman and I’m the Chief Technology Officer at Leverage.

Back in the day, I used to be a radio DJ but then I went back to school for web development. So, I’ve been working in web development since 1998. I’ve worked at various companies, media companies, and agencies, then landed at Clickstop in 2010.

Why did you choose Leverage/Clickstop?

It’s such an interesting company. The culture and the people are the foundation of everything, and then the interesting work that we get to do, we grow so much that we get to play with all kinds of fun and interesting things. Every day is something different and that, to me, is very intriguing.

What specific services does Leverage IT focus on?

We have four services that we’re focusing on at the current time. Big data is a major focus for everybody right now. Every business has more data every day and they have to do something with it. We’re looking at using machine learning and artificial intelligence to help people make better business decisions for their company.

We also work on mobile applications. We have sites and companies here that need this so that people can have the business-to-business type mobile applications that they need.

Innovative technology solutions is another area that we focus on. We know it can be hard for companies at times to acquire technologists because their whole IT team is busy. We can come in, work on a laser-focused project for them, and get them up to speed quickly.

Then our big area of expertise is NetSuite. We’ve been using NetSuite since 2009 to run every piece of our business. So, we have a lot of expertise around all the workings and the back ends of NetSuite figured out, as well as a lot of experience on the website front end. We want to help people make transitions from Site Builder to the new SCA platform and beyond. We are the NetSuite partners you’ve dreamed of.

What sets Leverage apart from a traditional agency model?

One of the unique things about the Leverage IT team is our expertise. There’s a couple of us that have been web developers for a number of years. I mean, quite literally, between the two of us we’ve worked on one thousand websites. So, it’s just something that we have a lot of work in. We have two team members that have also been involved in bigger companies and have built services, applications, and all the things that most companies are trying to do today. We have over 50 years of experience in our small team which gives us the depth of knowledge that many customers want. We’ve been in e-commerce for a number of years, we’ve seen big data, we’ve built data warehouses. We understand the problems of the day to day business. But the most unique thing about Leverage IT is the fact that we’re not only consultants; we’re users.

What excites you most about the future of Leverage?

What gets me most excited about Leverage is the fact that we have so many opportunities to help clients be in business. Sometimes I think consultants tend to just say, “what can we take from a business?” but I think the underlying message of Leverage is we’re trying to help companies stay in business. We want to partner with people so that everyone can be successful. We want to help them help themselves if that’s what they need. We’re here to help businesses get better, not to take away from their bottom line.

What would you say to somebody who is unsure if they could benefit from Leverage IT?

I would ask that customer this: Why don’t we talk? Let’s start the conversation. We might not be the right fit for you, but we might be. We’d love to start that conversation, start to figure out what needs they actually have and see if we have something that could help them out. If we don’t, we definitely don’t want to get in their way. But we want to help people get to where they want to be, which is hopefully high success, profitability, and return on investment.
